Cleansing the Flesh
Stone water basin or 'Temizusha', used to rinse the hands and mouth (the water dipper must not touch your lips) before entering the 'Meiji Jingu shrine', built for 'Emperor Meiji' (the father of modern Japan) and his 'Empress Shoken'. Harajuku, Tokyo, Japan.
Tickets to Heaven
'Ema' or wooden wishing plaques, are 'vehicles to the gods' for wishes or prayers, at the 'Meiji-Jingu Shrine', Harajuku, Tokyo, Japan.
